Due Date (2010)

Due Date is the newest film by Todd Phillips, starring Robert Downey Jr., Zach Galifianakis, Michelle Monaghan, Jamie Foxx, Juliette Lewis, Danny McBride and RZA.

Plot:
Peter (Robert Downey Jr.) is on his way home from a business trip to witness the birth of his son, scheduled for the end of the week. Unfortunately, at the airport he meets the obnoxious Ethan (Zach Galifianakis), who immediately gets him into all kinds of troubles and finally booted off the plane and on the No-Fly-List. Unfortunately, Peter’s luggage, including his wallet and ID stay on plane. And so he finds himself on a cross-country-trip with Ethan (who at least had the decency to get kicked off the plane as well).

Up in the Air (2009)

Up in the Air is the newest movie by Jason Reitman, starring George Clooney, Vera Farmiga, Anna Kendrick, Jason Bateman, Melanie Lynskey, J. K. Simmons and Zach Galifianakis.

Plot:
Ryan (George Clooney) works for a company who fire people for other companies. He’s good at his job and he loves the life that comes with it – loads of travelling, no real responsibility for anybody, barely any contact. When his young colleague Natalie (Anna Kendrick) proposes a system to fire people via webcam, he takes her on the road to show her the reality of the job. Around the same time he meets the attractive business woman Alex (Vera Farmiga) and starts an affair with her. Slowly he begins to question his whole lifestyle.

Up in the Air is probably not the best movie you’ll ever see (like the various award nominations would have you believe). Nevertheless, it’s a very nice movie, full of vivid characters, wonderful performances and a good sense of humour.

The next morning, they wake up, Doug is gone, they are all in a very bad state and nobody remembers a thing. Hilarity is supposed to ensue.

I saw the trailer for this film and initially refused to see it. It looked like a sexist pile of crap aka dudebro movie. But after the movie won the Golden Globe I thought I might have misjudged it. So I watched it. Unfortunately, my first instince was completely right.
