Random Things

L. had this meme up. I answered it once before, but just like her, I think it’s a cool one (and anyway, I have to blog something, don’t I?), so here I am doing it again.

Write 10 random and/or weird things about yourself and list the 5 people you’re going to tag and a reason why you’re tagging them.

  1. I’m unable to keep a plant in my flat alive longer than two weeks.
  2. I’m really horrible with money – I tend to spend money I don’t have and then starve until I have some again.
  3. If I had to choose between going blind and going deaf, I had to choose going deaf. Living without music would be hard, but living without reading is impossible. [Fortunately, I don’t have to choose.]
  4. I’m a mostly politically correct person, but one of my favourite jokes could be pretty offensive to some people. And it’s from some kind of Western I saw 10 minutes of at about 2 in the morning. I don’t remember what it was about (the film, that is), or who played in it or what it was called. I only remember the joke. [A Frenchman, a German and an Irish walk into a bar and order a whiskey each. Their drinks arrive and in each glass, there’s a fly. The Frenchman pushes his glass away, exclaims, “Je ne peux pas boire cela!” (I can’t drink this!) and leaves. The German shrugs, pulls out the fly and drinks his shot. The Irish pulls out the fly, holds it up and starts shaking it, screaming, “SPIT IT OUT! SPIT IT OUT!!!”]
  5. When I have to get up early, I need two alarm clocks. One that is next to my bed and starts playing music about an hour before I actually have to get up and the second which is really out of reach and starts to beep annoyingly so I have to get up and kill it.
  6. I’ve always tried to be different from other people. When a lot of people liked something, I never did. Only recently have I realised that that means that I’m being influenced as much as if I liked the same things everybody does. Now, I have no problem with saying that I like something, even though everybody likes it, or saying that I don’t like something, even though everybody likes it.
  7. I always read before I fall asleep. Even when I’ve drunk my brains out (which doesn’t really happen a lot), I still pick up a book and stare at the meaningless mumbo-jumbo of letters until I fall asleep.
  8. I recently bought a really bad romance novel (something comparable to Harlequin books), just because it sounded so amazingly bad. Now, I’m afraid to pick it up and read it. What if I like it?
  9. I have a thing for noses. For me to think that a man is good-looking, I have to like his nose. It can’t be too small or too big, and it has to fit the face and so on. Very hard to meet my nose standards.
  10. I don’t like being in crowds. I tend to get a bit claustrophobic and like to keep to the sides. But every year (meaning, I missed it twice since 2003), I end up going to the Frequency Festival (wiki), where I mingle with about 30.000-50.000 people and I love it.

As usual, I don’t tag anyone, but if you want to take this up, you’re free to do so. Enjoy!

  1. You have a thing for noses? I have a thing for perfect feet; not so much a fetish but still I have pretty high standards when it comes to feet.

  2. @presti:
why would you want to take it back, if it’s the truth? Everybody has little things like that…

Oh, and feet – very hard to have beautiful feet. Fortunately, I don’t care that much about them. But if I would, that would be the end for quite a few crushes, I’m afraid. :)
