Lost in Austen

1girl. 1 miniseries. 1 evening. The result: I really, really, really loved Lost in Austen.

What I liked:

  • It’s funny, especially thanks to Jemima Rooper.
  • It definitely satisfied my girlie itch.
  • It’s true to Jane Austen‘s original, even if that sounds impossible.

What I didn’t like that much:

Yes, that’s it. That’s my only complaint. And I so, so hope that there’s going to be more. Travelling into other Austen books, probably. And then we could continue with other classics.

Until then, I might have to do another Austen session. Or three.

  1. We just watched this last night, and I was sure you’d blogged about it so I thought I’d come leave my comments…

We loved it too! Actually, I think my husband probably loved it even more than I did! We did argue for hours over whether or not Mr Collins was too creepy (He says yes, I say no just perfect). And he DID get smacked for his Caroline Bingley comments…

We did agree with you, this Darcy didn’t quite get 10/10 on the All Time Hottie scale (but YES that particular scene WAS very nice!)

I don’t know about there being more, maybe. Presumably it wouldn’t be Amanda Price again, so would it just be the same thing all over again, just with Sense & Sensibility instead of Pride & Prejudice? Would it still be fresh and entertaining or just the same as the first time?

Maybe if a guy got Lost in Austen this time…?

    • What a coincidence! I just rewatched it!

No, I think Mr Collins was great-creepy. Am with you on that one.

I don’t think that they had planned more and I don’t know if there will be more but I would like to see more. Of course, I wouldn’t want to be the one to get the assignment – I can’t think of a way to make it fun and original and not just the same thing all over again…

But I like your idea to have a guy get lost. Especially since all of Austen’s main characters are women and they’re usually your point of entry into the story…
Maybe we should tell the BBC about that. ;)
