Apparently, there’re plans for Anita Blake as a TV series… I don’t know if I should run screaming or be delighted.
But anywhichway, how will they fare with the books, when they turn into porn?

Stay. Definitely. This is great news. :o)
I guess I can’t do anything else but anxiously wait and then be completely disappointed… ;)
I don’t believe it until I see it.
Still I’m really curious about the cast – though I can’t imagine that I’ll agree with the choices of the casting director… The choice of actors alone could ruin the whole thing. Well, actually there are so many things that are highly probable to go wrong, that I won’t expect this series to be any good anyway. But even if it was worse than all apprehension, I guess we’d have a blast rubbishing it… :)
It sounds quite definite… At least, that the pilot is being made. And with the tons of Laurell K. Hamilton fans, I can’t imagine that it won’t last at least a season.
But you’re right. So much depends on the casting. And if worst comes to worst, we can at least bitch about it. ;)
omg
I don’t know how I feel about that.
I’ve been really, really pathetic this week and re-read the first two books, trying to remind myself of all that was hilarious and addictive about the books. I couldn’t find it…or, at least, not much of it.
I still like the characters (pre-assassination, obviously), but all the rest of it is just AAAARRRGH!!! (and those spelling mistakes everywhere…). Have I changed so much?
Anyway…I don’t think it would be possible to adapt this for TV. And it shouldn’t be done just for the sake of having one more vampire show on network television.
[I am now trying to reanimate my brain cells with Jane Austen – perhaps not all is lost ;-) ]
Seeing as you re-read it this recently – do you think it really, really would be bookbitching material and should I really do it?
Watching True Blood, I think that it would be possible to adapt it, albeit very difficult. But then again, it’s Anita Blake, for Pete’s sake! How could it ever work?
[What are you reading? Pride and Prejudice?]
Strangely enough, I’m not sure it would be bookbitching material. There isn’t enough really hilarious stooopid in the first two books. No alien-pirate-jet pilot-demigod-incubi…just very, very bad writing about the most obnoxious Mary-Sue of them all.
But don’t take my word for it – just re-read the first couple of chapters…it shouldn’t take you more than an hour.
[Sense and Sensibility over the weekend, PP now :) ]
Yeah… unfortunately, there are not that many alien-pirate-jet pilot-vampires around as one would think (a clear sign that not all is lost, yet). Maybe I’ll read it again, just the first chapters, as you said.
Anyway, still have a couple of chapters left in my current book.
[Nice… I think, Sense and Sensibility might be my next book…]
