You want to waste some time, I know it. Procrastination rules!
So, here have a text adventure game, illustrated with wonderful PaintShop drawings and very weird plots: MS Paint Adventures. Although the humour’s a little crude, it quite definitely is funny.
Ever tried the more mainstream forms of interactive fiction? Some are very decent, even though I inevitably turn to the walkthroughs before too long.
Yeah, I have some games on my harddrive, but I hadn’t had the time to play them yet. Any you particularly recommend?
[And I’m a walkthrough girl as well… No patience.]
Try Emily Short’s page at http://www.emshort.wordpress.com …her games are pretty long, detailed and difficult, but that’s what walkthroughs are for. Then, there’s this game I can’t really recall-photo something, I think- about this little (barely teen or so) girl. It has 2 parallel narratives, one in her fantasy world and one in “real life”. Both have REALLY wonderful(if sad, and that’s not too much of a spoiler) endings. There’s barely any puzzles, but there’s a walkthrough even so.
Got it. Photopia.z5. It’s a z-code file so you’ll need an interpreter(windows frotz will do if you’re on windows, you can find the others by searching). Baf’s guide doesn’t seem to be loading (www.wurb.com/if) or that would’ve given everything together. For now, got o http://www.ifarchive.org/indexes/if-archiveXgamesXzcode.html and scroll down till you see the file. I’ll mail you if you can’t find it.
I downloaded Photopia, when I have the time I’ll give it a try!
Thanks for the hint, sounds really good!
I also had a look at Emily Short’s page, looks like she really has cool games.
