Plot:
Dorothy (Justine Langlois) is a filmmaker, but unsuccessful so far. There just doesn’t seem to be funding available for her queer comedies about lesbian bikers during the end of the world. After yet another rejection, Dorothy has a few beers and watches a couple of episodes of Romy the Vampire Slayer. And then things turn strange.
After De la terreur, mes soeurs!, this was the second short by Langlois I watched and it absolutely cements my opinion that he is a filmmaker to watch. I really enjoyed Les démons de Dorothy. It’s a fun film that challenges our notions of cinema and good movies, just like queer cinema is supposed to. It feels a bit like a manifesto, but in an entertaining and unobtrusive way. It had me laughing and hoping for Dorothy’s success. But above all, it’s a beautiful celebration of queer filmmaking. More of this, please!
