Plot:
Alexander (Wolfgang Hübsch) has withdrawn to his uncle Wanja’s (Martin Butzke) country estate to escape the financial crisis that is shaking the city and has caused a revolution. In the country, things still are mostly the same and Wanja and Sonja (Korinna Krauss) want to keep it that way. But Alexander and his wife Elena (Julia Dietze) have business ideas – lots of them.

Onkel Wanja is an ambitious project that tries a lot but it’s unfortunately also one that fails a lot. For me it was mostly marked by feeling long and exhausting, although there were a few bits that were pretty strong.

Iron Sky (2012)

Iron Sky
Director: Timo Vuorensola
Writer: Michael Kalesniko
Based on: Johanna Sinisalo‘s story
Cast: Julia Dietze, Götz Otto, Christopher Kirby, Peta Sergeant, Stephanie Paul, Udo Kier

Plot:
In 2018, the President of the United States (Stephanie Paul) sends two men to the moon – a PR measure that’s supposed to ensure her re-election. But upon arrival, the two discover that there are Nazis on the dark side of the moon who have been hiding there since the end of World War 2. James Washington (Christopher Kirby) gets captured, experimented on and finally, Klaus (Götz Otto) the aspiring Führer and Renate (Julia Dietze), scientist and his fiancée return to earth with James to finally retake their home planet.

If you’re not excited by the words “nazis on the moon”, then you probably won’t enjoy this film. But if you, as I did, think that this is THE MOST AWESOME THING, then you’ll love it.

1½ Ritter – 1½ Knights (2008)

1½ Ritter – full title 1½ Ritter – Auf der Suche nach der hinreißenden Herzelinde (English: 1½ Knights – In Search of the Ravishing Princess Herzelinde) – is a movie by and with Til Schweiger, who you may know from great movies like Far Cry or his small, but at least talking role (if I remember correctly) in Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life. Or maybe you know him from his really nice underwear modelling.

Anyway, he’s actually one of the most successful and best known actors from Germany. So, when he knocks together a movie, you better watch it. Uhm, actually… not.
