Johnny Depp News

So, Johnny Depp will play The Mad Hatter in Tim Burton‘s upcoming Alice in Wonderland – that I knew already. [And I’m really, really excited about it. Take one of my favourite actors, one of my favourite directors and one of my favourite books and the result can only be greatness (see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory).]

Anyway, this article in the Guardian tells us that apparently, there will be a fourth Pirates of the Caribbean (link’s to the first) with Johnny as Jack Sparrow (no word on whether or not the other major characters will be back as well).

And Johnny will be Tonto in the upcoming Lone Ranger movie.

I don’t know what I should say about that. I don’t really know the Lone Ranger, so I can’t say whether to be excited or not.

And a fourth Pirates? I hope they know what they’re doing, I don’t want to see the whole thing destroyed (some might argue that that happend already. I liked parts two and three).

  1. As a die-hard Depp fan, I would lap up every one of those films. And no matter how crappy those films turn out to be, I would still enjoy it! Out of the three, Mad Hatter’s got me the most excited. How about you?

  2. Definitely the Mad Hatter. To quote myself:
“Take one of my favourite actors, one of my favourite directors and one of my favourite books and the result can only be greatness”

Although, if Pirates 4 is any good, it will be great.

But you’re right – no matter how crappy the movie, Johnny Depp is always great to watch. :)

  3. I didn’t know about the Alice in Wonderland movie until now. It sounds like it will be awesome. Although, I haven’t read the book. Should I before I see the movie, do you think?

Also, I agree that Johnny Depp is incredible in everything he is in, despite the fact that I find the second Pirates movie tolerable and the third useless except for the first 20-30 minutes that Johnny is on screen. They just need to let him do his thing, and put him on camera. That’ll make the fourth one a good movie. But after I wasted money on the third of the series, I doubt I’ll pay to see the next one.

I also agree that Tim Burton is great, too. I’m sticking to my guns that the “original” non-Adam West (okay, say “Mark II”) Batman, the one with Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson, is head and shoulders above the other Batman movies, and the best comic-based movie. Go Tim Burton.

  4. Well, it’s never wrong to read Alice in Wonderland. And it really is a quick read. But I guess that you’ll have no problem understanding the movie. With the Disney animated movie and so many quotes more or less “flying” around, much of it is general knowledge anyway.

A lot of people think that the second and the third Pirates movie sucked, I didn’t think that they were so bad. Yeah, they weren’t as good as the first one, but they were still better than average.
I’m pretty sure that I’ll pay for the fourth movie, whether it’s good or not. :)

I love all the Batman movies, but probably because I grew up with them. I even love the Adam West show and movie. But they all do different things for me. Adam West and co make me laugh my brains out. Tim Burton’s Michael Keaton Batman made comics respectable for a wider circle of people. Joel Schumacher just blows my brains out with his pop-version of Batman. And Nolan’s Batman – he just made him a complete character…

Well, anyway, Tim Burton = genius. :)
