Zoinx (Susan Ziegler) is from a planet where too much emotion threatens the atmosphere. Since Zoinx loves too much, she is therefore one of a few sent to earth to get her heart broken. On earth, Zoinx meets Jane (Lisa Haas), a stationary shop employee who struggles with her loneliness and never being entirely sure what’s real and what not. While their relationship develops, equally exiled Zylar (Jackie Monahan) and Barr (Cynthia Kaplan) have yet to find somebody who can break their hearts.
Going into the film I was worried that it might only be the title that I would like. But I liked it so much that I figured I’d give it a try anyway. And it was brilliantly funny and quirky in the best way.
This is a film where I just want to list the things that were awesome. There were so many of them! And every thing I list, leads me to another three that belong on the list. So, off I go.
There is a dancing scene that had me howling from laughter. It was only surpassed by the scene with the revolving cake tray that is worthy of all accolades that I am able to give. I almost cried from laughing. But the best thing about it were the dialogues. The Men in Black had me in stitches.
And the costumes! And the music! And and and…
I have to admit that the main storyline with Jane and Zoinx was the weakest one of the three. But the other two storylines – Zylar and Barr and the two Men in Black – were amazing. Especially Jackie Monahan (who played Zylar) was wonderful.
I just really liked the film. And Madeleine Olnek, who talked after the movie and told us about their no-budget guerilla marketing which reminded me a bit of our filmmaking process for our webseries. Only maybe slightly more professional. ;)
Summarising: Trust the brilliant title.
