Meteor
Directors and Writers: Christoph Girardet, Matthias Müller
Part of: Viennale (short film before Codependent Lesbian Space Alien Seeks Same)
Plot:
Meteor assembles clips from various old genre films and puts it together with a (prose?) poem to tell a new story.
As usual with narrative that I only get via audio, I was completely at a loss (seriously, the only time that worked for me was in Howl, where James Franco almost sings the poem it’s so rythmical and there was also animation to go with it). I can’t take things in that way (which is why audiobooks don’t work for me, either), my mind starts wandering and I just can’t follow.
So it feels unfair to judge this film because it couldn’t work for me and I’m actually pretty certain that I would have liked the text had I read it and I liked the idea of cobbling together old films. But things being as they are, I might as well have not seen the film for the amount I took in.
