maschek are an Austrian comedy trio. They lipsync/redub TV shows, news and ads live. For this particular program they recorded 50 hours of TV on 11/11/11 and chose about two hours worth of material to tell us the story of an apparent alien/robot invasion. Captain Kirk and Spock are helping out to uncover the truth behind it and what Red Bull has to do with everything.

111111 is pretty entertaining, though I have to admit that it had its lengths. Nevertheless there was a lot of fun to be had.

The whole thing takes a bit to get started. At first I didn’t even realize that there was gonna be an actual plot at all, actually. It only becomes apparent after a bit, giving the entire first half a disjointed feel – as if the editing process was cut short by one round that would have been needed to fit the beginning with the ending.

But in the second half, it all comes together nicely and the plot gets perfectly weird.

Put altogether though, it’s not my kind of comedy. I don’t care for voice mimicking that much. In fact, it does get annoying pretty quickly for me, especially when people talk with exaggerated voices and/or accents. And apart from the voices, the humor was hit and miss for me, too. Mostly there were good laughs, though, and I did have a nice evening.
