Fucking Different XXX

Fucking Different XXX is a queer porn anthology where the lesbian directors tackle the gay sex and the gay directors the lesbian sex.
I liked the idea of this anthology, but unfortunately the result wasn’t really my thing. Apart from a few moments, I didn’t really enjoy it. Also, for an anthology that is all about switching and queering things up, it felt pretty tame. There was only one segment, Offing Jack, that features a nonbinary person and a fat guy, that really manages to break through the mold of usual, if mostly homosexual sex.
After the jump, I’ll talk about each segment separately.
Lilith/Mother of Evil
Director and Writer: Maria Beatty
Cast: Rose Wood, Logan Stevens, Rio Duran
With this segment, the movie was off to a really rocky start. Taking on the biblical figure of Lilith as a trans woman who fucks her two sons, one white and one black, this could have been interesting, but a) why is the titular Mother of Evil a trans woman, in fact the only trans person in the film at all, which makes a connection between trans and evil? [hello transphobia!]; b) the black man rapes the two other people [hello racism!]; c) that rape is shown to turn into enjoyable, consensual sex for the white man, not so much for the woman [hello rape culture!]; d) Lilith is punished for being the Mother of Evil by being sexually abused (the rape remains unpunished) [hello transphobia! hello rape culture!]; e) as Lilith is the Mother of Evil and her sons are gay, there seems to be a certain homophobic undercurrent here – especially since the actually evil rape is shown more as titillating than actually heinous [hello homophobia!]. It really was the mother lode of problematic things. I may have interpreted some of the things differently on their own, but in this density, it was simply horrifying, especially for a film shown at a queer Filmfestival. I was really close to walking out.
Martina XXX
Director and Writer: Jürgen Brüning
Cast: Sara Svärtan Persson
Thankfully Martina XXX was a big change of pace after the first segment. It shows Martina playing around in a ball pit with balls of varying size and finally playing around with another woman. For a while that was really funny, even if mostly for the What the Fuck factor, but it couldn’t quite keep my interest all the way through – at some point the charm simply wore off.

New Boy on the Block
Director and Writer: Émilie Jouvet
Cast: Zaho Sebastian Mann, Nic Stocksson
New Boy on the Block plays in the 90s and it charmingly works with the period. Other things were more involuntarily funny like the condom talk. And the exchange student angle didn’t quite work out for me. But it was charming regardless.
use. destroy. repeat.
Director and Writer: Todd Verow
Cast: Judy Minx, James
A robot looking for sex in a weird, but not uninteresting segment that worked well for me until things end in murder. That was unnecessary and soured the entire thing for me a little bit.

Blümchensex [literally: Floral Sex, the German expression for vanilla]
Director and Writer: Manuela Kay
Cast: André, Hannes
This segment definitely had a sense of humor that I could appreciate very much. The fact alone that it’s called “Blümchensex” and just happens to be one of the most hardcore and seriously impressive [that capacity!] fisting sessions that happens to take place outdoors was already hilarious, but then one of the guys is reading Faust (German for fist), just for the pun. Both guys kept making the strangest faces and I hope that was meant to be funny because it did make me laugh. But nothing in it was actually sexy in any way, shape or form.
Offing Jack
Director and Writer: Bruce La Bruce
Cast: Finn, Kay Garnellen
Offing Jack also comes with a good dose of humor and La Bruce’s usual low-budget shrillness and absolutely mediocre-at-best acting. I love him for that punk attitude and for ideas like what he does with the chalk in this film, I did not love the rape story at the beginning of the segment though.

Dyke Fight
Director and Writer: Kristian Petersen
Cast: Boots Ramon
Dyke Fight was, apart from the title that I didn’t find particularly great, the hottest segment of them all. That’s mostly due to the redheaded actress (cast info is rather scarce, I don’t know if she’s Boots Ramon or the other woman) who was simply sexy and gorgeous. But I also enjoyed the images of the club where the two meet. It looked like one where I’d like to go at some point.
Anchor Anatomic
Director and Writer: Courtney Trouble
Cast: Robert Would
I have to admit that at this point I was just tired of the entire thing, so the segment might have been better than I felt it. But as it was, I was bored with it and did drift off in between. The guys were cute, but overall it was just meh.

Summarizing: Fucking Different XXX remains largely disappointing.
