Plot:
Italian-American Francesca (Julianne Moore) has to return to Italy to get her mother Sofia (Marthe Keller). The trip prompts memories of their patchy relationship.

The Staggering Girl is a fashion short film that is more interested in showing of the Valentino robes than the characters or the story, no matter the star-studded cast. There are hints and glimpses but no in-depth exploration. Instead the film feels much more like a dream, aided by the non-linear narration that moves through Francesca’s memories in a haphazard way. If you let yourself be drawn in, and especially if you like fashion, the film is an aesthetic pleasure.
