Austria has it’s own MTV without the reality shows and without presenters who see their main duty in selling themselves by being hip. It’s called gotv [German] and what you get is music videos, interviews with bands and singers and almost no stupid talk as there’s hardly any presentation at all. I love it.

Anyway, even they are not safe from making mistakes. Today, they interviewed Russkaja, an Austrian based, multi-cultural band. And the disembodied voice who does the presenting says:

“Russkaja are known to have one of the best live shows in and around Austria. Some band members even leave the stage during the show to flirt with girls.”

So, to make a good show means to leave the stage? I can give them the best show ever then: I won’t even go on stage…

  1. Well, if I remember correctly there’s a lot of them, isn’t there?
So they can afford to schmooze the crowds like that – more room on stage for the others ;-)

The way I see it, the only downsides of gotv are
    a) marathon ad breaks (but I do understand that they need the money, so I’m willing to put up with it – and there’s no Jamba! advertising, which is a reason to love them…)
and b) they repeat their features ad nauseam. Seriously, how often do we need to watch a Guadalajara/Biffy Clyro/Amy McDonald/(insert artist of the week)-Feature? It feels like they’re showing them 8 times a day. More videos. Less “Why are we called that? Well, that’s a funny story, actually…” *yaaaawn* Maybe I’m just atypical, because I don’t care about the bands. I don’t care what their names are, what kind of pets they had as children, or which STDs they got during the last festival season. I want to listen to their music, and watch their videos. (Yes, I’m one of those people…ask me about Michel Gondry, I dare you ;-) )

  2. I completely understand… I told you about the one time I went to the Starsailor concert with my sister and I knew all the lyrics and sang along and this girl my sister talked to was really amazed that I knew the lyrics but didn’t know the name of the singer.

But as I don’t watch much gotv I don’t care about the repeating part. I usually don’t notice.
