No – watch it first, then read it.
That way, you can appreciate the film as great without missing any of the brilliant stuff from the book.
But I’m scared, too. Neverending Story II was a mistake. Neverending Story III was plain stupid. And the animated series was pure sacrilege – there was a definite downward trend.
And they want to “revive it with a modern spin”…OMG, where is my security blanket?
Along with the remake of the film, I am looking for a producer for The Neverending Story on stage at Javits Convention Center in New York City. Both an opera and ballet score have been composed by Siegfried Matthus. Please visit my website for more details by following the link below.
Well, I’m not going to do any producing any time soon (you do need money for that, don’t you?), but maybe somebody who’s willing will stumble upon your comment here… Good luck!
Damn.. its been so long since i have seen this movie. I barely even remember it.
The movie is great – as is the book. You should watch it again. And read it. No, read it first, then watch it. :)

You’re right. After thinking about it again – definitely watch the film first.
Yeah, the modern spin also makes me cringe a little. Or a lot. Let’s hope that either they make it great or they don’t make it at all.
Though I know that that’s not very likely.
[There’s an animated series? How did I not know that? OMG???]
