Foods which disgust the crap out of me: I eat almost anything but I could never bring myself to eat those eggs that have actual chicks inside instead of, you know, egg stuff.
TV show I loathe: There are TV shows that I just don’t get (Two and a Half Men, Entourage, The Office … why is that shit supposed to be funny?), but show I loathe… 7th Heaven maybe.
Movie I loathe: Hmmm… I don’t know… if I don’t like a movie, I usually don’t get invested enough to actually start hating it. The closest I get are probably movies that ruin otherwise fine series (X3 and Wolverine, Superman III & IV, The Land Before Time 3000, …)
Music genres I loathe: I usually don’t loathe whole genres. But Austrian folk music (to clarify for the German speaking audience: volkstümliche Musik, nicht Volksmusik) – really can’t stand it.
Magazine which annoys me: All those countless “women’s magazines” that keep telling you that it’s okay how you look next to the page where they have photoshopped-to-oblivion models and that you’re perfectly alright as you are and that you should achieve personal fulfillment next to the page where they explain how you can bend and change just to keep the man of your life in your life.
Makes me cranky at restaurant: Being ignored by the service personnel.
Makes me cranky in public: Those people that try to sell you memberships to Amnesty International or Greenpeace or whatever. I’m fine when they try to talk to me, notice that I’m not interested and then back off. But most of the time they get so aggressive in their selling technique (following you around, getting in your way so you can’t move on etc) that I get really cranky. You try that on me, you sure as hell are not going to make a sale.
Makes me cranky in general: Not getting enough sleep.
Pisses me off at home: Since I live alone and I usually don’t piss myself off and I can regulate all the things around me to not piss me off, I’ll change this question to mean in my private life. And then the answer is unreliability. You’re late? No problem, just let me know. You can’t make it after all? That’s too bad but I won’t be mad unless you just don’t let me know.
Pisses me off at work: People standing behind me when I work, watching what I do.
Pisses me off in general: Sexism.
Makes me impatient at home: The Windows Copy Dialogue. (5 min… 3 hours… 2 min… 49 min…) [On the other hand, watching utorrent at work is my zen meditation.]
Makes me impatient at work: Watching other people who don’t know their computers working at their computers – it’s always so circuitous that I just want to yank the mouse and keyboard from them and do it myself.
Makes me impatient in public: At the supermarket, when there’s this really huge line, yet only one cashier. Hire a second one, goddammit.
Celebrity I hate: I try not to hate people I don’t know. But Austrian “celebrity” (famous for being an idiot with money) Richard Lugner pushes my buttons. All of them (though I have to admit that I mostly hate the attention he gets – you really can’t escape him…).
Music artist I hate: See above, except for Richard Lugner, substitute Kid Rock (actually, it’s mostly his Sweet Home Alabama rip off).
I could care less about: Isn’t that supposed to be “I couldn’t care less about?” Anyway, I couldn’t care less about the whining of the catholic church that they’re losing believers.
Annoys the crap out of me weekdays: Having to get up in the mornings.
Annoys the crap out of me weekends: That they’re short.
Blogger’s habit that annoys you: Not showing whole posts in your feed… annoying as hell.
Feature on your blog you hate: If I hated a feature, I wouldn’t use it anymore… But here’s what I don’t like about WordPress: That it’s not possible to have the posts in the archives sorted from earliest to latest. It should be possible to change that.
Movie star you despise: Again, trying not to hate people I don’t know but Stephen Baldwin succeeds in pissing me off without even trying.
Politician that you hate: The usual Austrian suspects – Strache et al. (Just to clarify, this is no judgement of their personalities but their politics.)
C’mon, why do you hate 7th heaven?
Most people who watch it are democrats and liberals who llllove the show’s humour.
There is some big difference between us: I am most amused by stuff you consider offensive. Like 7th heaven, the Austrian army commercial and so on. That I’m starting to consider Austrian politics hilarious is not a very good sign. Neither for Austria nor for my jadedness. = :O
I hate 7th Heaven because it’s bigotted, ridiculous and just plain stupid.
And I refuse to go along with that shit. I mean take the Army Commercial: It’s sexist to the max and it’s supposed to be funny. If I laugh about it, even ironically, they get the reaction they want. And I won’t be doing that.
I think some things are so bad they are actually good.
Like “Trolls”.
I prefer to laugh than to ramble about pathetic reactionaries. I must confess that I get along well with reactionaries in real life. Most of them have a tendency to like me.
I *really* know a whole bunch of left-wing Austrians who rejoice about 7th heaven.
To each their own.
There was a time when I used to watch 7th Heaven but less because I was amused. I watched it with a growing sense of horror: for every minute I watched, my jaw dropped deeper…
Love your magazine that annoys me paragraph. :)
Thanks. :)
Maybe you should take yourself, deadra and a bottle of whisky to get into the heart of 7th heaven. It can be enjoyed, blimmey.
See above: I did watch it, I know it and I know enough about it to be absolutely certain that I don’t want to watch more of it.
I don’t want to talk you into it, have no fear.
Personally I have seen only 2 episodes. One on my own (boring) one together with a “fan” who really did the *rofl*. Literally. It was hilarious together with him. He didn’t comment or anything, he just laughed his ass off.
(The blonde boy of 15 was in love and his dad told him that he wasn’t actually in love and in the end the boy thanked his father for educating him. ^^)
Why have you seen so much of 7th heaven?
I didn’t see that much (maybe 10 epsiodes or so)and only because it was on at a convenient time.
Just enough to know that I don’t want to know more. :)
Hey, I liked X3!
But why??? :)
Well, the plot wasn’t as stupid as I’d feared. And obviously, the rest of it was fine. And I like Xmen in general, it would’ve taken a lot to screw it up. And there wasn’t a lot. Why do you hate it?
(Of course, a good episodic franchise should never kill off its central characters, but I thought that was quite brave of them, actually.)
I thought the plot was pretty stupid. The killing off of central characters didn’t bother me as much as the way they did it. I mean, Cyclops’ death, for example, was ridiculous.
But I’ll freely admit that I’m not the greates X-Men fan anyways, so maybe they don’t have to do that much to piss me off. :)
