Lockout
Director: James Mather, Stephen St. Leger
Writer: James Mather, Stephen St. Leger, Luc Besson
Cast: Guy Pearce, Maggie Grace, Peter Stormare, Lennie James, Vincent Regan, Joseph Gilgun
Plot:
CIA agent Snow (Guy Pearce) is in deep shit. He’s (wrongly) accused of killing his partner and selling state secrets and quickly sentenced to 30 years in the new prison space station that is just about to be approved from the pilot project phase. But before he can actually be sent there, there is a prison riot – right during a visit of the president’s daughter Emilie (Maggie Grace) there. And so, Snow gets a chance to prove himself: if he saves Emilie, he can go free.
Lockout delivers pretty much exactly what you expect it to: crazy villains, explosions, tough guy talk and so much fun. Plus, there are so many gorgeous tattoos walking around in this film, it’s practically tattoo porn. The ending might be a teensiest bit tied up too neatly, but really, who cares about that?
Lockout is not a film that is particularly smart or insightful or thought-provoking, as you can probably imagine. You can predict pretty much every twist and turn from the get-go and as I said, the ending is so neat (because everything was set up so that in the end it could be resolved perfectly) that it’s almost annoying. Plus, all the characters are one-dimensional in the extreme.
But really, you don’t go into a film like Lockout expecting more than that. You don’t even go in to get a good film. You go in to see Guy Pearce sprouting one-liners and beating up insane villains. You go in to have fun. And that, Lockout delivers without a doubt.
Plus, as I said, I loved to see all those tattoos. Tattoos are awesome and there are some beautiful specimen in this film like those twirly thingies you can see in the picture above or the tattoo in Guy Pearce’s neck.
I just really had fun with the craziness of it all. The soundtrack is good, the pacing draws you in – you just have to lean back and enjoy the ride.
Summarising: Turn off your brain and it will be awesome.

Sounds awesome. :)
Totally is. :)
Trying to find a picture of Guy Pearce’s tattoo on his arm in the movie Lockout..
Sorry, I don’t think that you even see it that well at all in the film – he always wears sleeves.
