2 Fast 2 Furious
Director: John Singleton
Writer: Michael Brandt, Derek Haas
Sequel to: The Fast and the Furious
Cast: Paul Walker, Tyrese Gibson, Eva Mendes, Cole Hauser, Ludacris, Thom Barry, James Remar, Devon Aoki, Amaury Nolasco, Michael Ealy,
Mark Boone Junior
Plot:
After what happened in The Fast and the Furious, Brian (Paul Walker) now makes his money with illegal car races. At least until the police grab him and suggest that he could do some undercover work for them again. So Brian chooses a partner, Roman (Tyrese Gibson) who he grew up with and together they infiltrate the crew of drug dealer Verone (Cole Hauser), joining Monica (Eva Mendes) who has been undercover there for months.
2 Fast 2 Furious was actually pretty boring. I didn’t care much about the plot or the characters and since I don’t care for cars, either, there was nothing, really, that could have sold this film to me.
It was quite amazing, actually: I cared so little about what happened, I forgot the plot basically while I saw it. If you had quizzed me at the end of the film about what happened in detail or how everything fit together, I couldn’t have told you. (Maybe it didn’t fit together at all, but I couldn’t tell that, either.)
And since the characters were complete stereotypes, there was no interest there from my side as well. And I really missed Dom and Letty from the first film. They weren’t the greatest characters either, but at least they did have a personality.
What I did like though was the soundtrack. Pretty catchy. And it could have basically been a soundtrack for a hip hop dance movie, so that’s really nice.
The car chases were probably cool, too. I don’t know. Any car chase that’s longer than 30 seconds pretty much bores me. Which probably makes me the worst audience for these movies anyway.
Summarising: If you liked the first one/car chases, chances are you’ll like this, too.

“If you liked the first one/car chases, chances are you’ll like this, too.” Well, thats definitely not true for me. Like you, I missed Dom and Letty; it felt more like a spin-off than a sequel. I didn’t care for any of the characters, and I even found most of the action boring. So at least in this case, it’s not just you ;-).
Well, that’s something at least. :)
And Dom and Letty are to be missed, yes.
