Landfall has been at war with its own moon Wreath for about forever and their war has spread out over the galaxy. In the middle of this war, there are Alanna, from Landfall, and Marko, from Wreath. They are in love. They just had a baby – a baby that no one with any say wants to see alive as it calls the entire war into question. But Alana and Marko are soldiers and they are good at their job. They are not about to give up that easily. Soon the entire galaxy seems to be at their heel.

Saga is absolutely excellent: wonderful worldbuilding, great characters, beautiful art. I am very intrigued and really need to know how things continue now.

Saga starts with a very interesting world – always a distinct advantage. And there are so many good ideas here (like the rocketship forest – simplay fantastic). Staples’ art brings all of that to beautiful life. Especially her coloring is just wow – beautiful, vivid and expressive, it brings out the best of comics as a medium.

But there is more! So many great characters here, it’s hard to say who my favorite is. I mean, Alana and Marko, of course. And Hazel and Izzy! The core group on its own really is awesome and I love them all. But there are also so many fascinating supporting characters – The Will and the Lying Cat for one. The Stalk is also very cool!
I’m sorry she’s out of the story now.
But I was also intrigued by Prince Robot IV – I didn’t expect that he’d be competent at all (royals rarely are).

In any case, the first few issues here open up a caleidoscope: a glittering universe peopled with engaging characters (who also show great diversity) – is it any wonder, I can barely wait to continue reading the series?

Summarizing: I’m completely hooked.
